Foam dressing consisting of an highly absorbent soft polyurethane foam and of a breathable polyurethane film which is water and bacteria impermeable but vapour permeable.
Fluids are uniformly distributed into the foam dressing which, thus, perfectly conforms to the wound-bed maintaining the optimal moist wound environment for healing process. The high absorption of the foam dressing provides superior fluid management for a longer period of time.
This minimized discomfort for the patient and results more cost effective. The distinctive “flat-edged” design facilitates the applications of a secondary fixation dressing (tape, polyurethane film – Euroderm or Euroderm roll – or cohesive bandage) and provides an additional protection against leakage.
The thickness of the foam ensures a cushioning effect. Euroderm foam reduces pressure over the wound area, thereby reducing friction and sheer stresses and giving excellent patient comfort and protection.
For the treatment of necrotic or fibrinous wounds it is advisable to use it in combination with Hydromed gel. The dressing can stay in place for up to 7 days.
The frequency of change results from the clinical condition, the type of wound and the quantity of exudates.
